Our grassland, with its rugged, scenic terrain known as the "Gyp Hills" is the location of Ted Turner's buffalo ranch.  The eastern half of the county encompasses the population centers.
 
The people of Barber County are well educated and possess a strong work ethic.
 
The economy is primarily agricultural and home to one of the largest cow/calf operations in the state as well as many wheat farmers.  The northern part of the county has irrigated row crops.
