The Sunflower H2O Initiative is a consortium of rural communities and water districts in south-central Kansas and northern Oklahoma seeking engineering and financial assistance in evaluating and resolving the area’s common water issues from a regional perspective. The project area consists of six counties in Kansas (Barber, Comanche, Harper, Kingman, Kiowa and Pratt) and three counties in Oklahoma (Alfalfa, Grant and Woods). There are 40 incorporated communities and 40 rural water districts in this region. The total population of the service area is about 54,000.
